World Breastfeeding Week 2020 is on August 1-7, 2020
🤱🏾This year’s theme is “Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet”. In line with this theme, WHO and UNICEF are calling on governments to protect and promote women’s access to skilled breastfeeding counseling, a critical component of breastfeeding support.

🤱🏾 I think that it’s sad that in 2020, working moms in America still feel unsupported by their employers when it comes to breastfeeding. Many healthcare mamas cite their struggles with finding a proper place to pump at work( I’ve heard of mamas pumping in the bathroom at work), getting flack for taking pumping breaks, or being shamed that their pumping is decreasing their productivity.
🤱🏾How sad is it that we are expected to give excellent care to our patients yet get little support when we want to ensure that we continue to provide nourishment for our children?
🤱🏾And let’s not forget the people who take issue with mothers nursing their children in Public and expect them to go do it in the bathroom. Please support moms in their breastfeeding journey.
